Get Your Skate On!
Are you an edge hanger on-er? A graceful swan? A coat watcher? A mulled wine drinker? Regardless of your ice rink style, nothing tells us the festive season is upon us more than wrapping up warm, grabbing some pals and heading to an ice rink to show off your (in our case, very poor!) ice skating skills. We’ve scoured the internet to find some of the best places to visit and get skating in December and January
We start with a classic. Skate at Somerset House with Moët & Chandon promises a spectacular season of celebration in the heart of London. The magnificent ice rink (now with bigger skate space) transforms the neoclassical courtyard into the essential winter destination, complete with a GLORIOUS 40ft Christmas tree, with specially curated decorations from Moët & Chandon, providing perfect picture moments. From skating lessons with Skate School, to the ultimate nightlife sets from trailblazing DJs on rink-side decks at Skate Lates with UNIQLO, there is something for everyone across the Skate season. Gourmet dining also returns at Chalet Suisse by Jimmy Garcia, providing the perfect post-skate treat at the pop-up alpine restaurant, and for the ultimate rink-side seat, enjoy champagne and cocktails in the Skate Lounge by Moët & Chandon. Skate is on from now until15th January 2023, between 9am-10:45pm. Adult tickets from £10 – £22. Click here for more information.
Think twinkling lights, the smell of gingerbread, Christmas songs playing on repeat and, of course, the sound of skates swishing across the ice… Skate Manchester is back for another winter season. The stunning outdoor ice rink is in the heart of the city at Cathedral Gardens. This year they have a brand-new ice path, allowing you to skate around a beautiful Christmas tree, surely it can’t get more festive than that! The covered rink has a roof, so you can you enjoy the ice whatever the weather, which means you you can skate without the (distinct) possibility of getting soaked in a sudden (very British) downpour! Grab your mac and head to Skate Manchester, Cathedral Gardens between11am – 8:45pm until 2nd January. Adult tickets from £14.50. Click here to find out more information.
Celebrate a greener Christmas this year with the Royal Pavilion Ice Rink in Brighton. Stunning, twinkly, romantic, child-friendly…and ice powered entirely by Green Energy. Once you’ve finished skating, head to the Rinkside Bar and Kitchen where you can enjoy warming snacks, mulled wine and hot chocolate with marshmallows. Brighton’s Royal Pavilion Ice Rink is open to the public this season until Jan 8th, 2023 between 10am – 9:45pm. Adult tickets from £9. Click here to find out more.
Glowing in atmospheric lights, Bath on Ice is back for its 10th year and is the perfect place to practise your skating and show off some moves. With wintery music, a cosy bar, and seasonal drinks, you’ll be transported to a dreamy winter wonderland! Whilst you’re there, why not play golf? Yes, this year you could be playing night golf with glow-in-the-dark balls, which adds a whole new layer of excitement to the classic daytime experience! Bath on Ice the Royal Pavilion at Royal Victoria Park is running until 3rd January and adult (skating) tickets are from £13.50. Click here to find out more.
