Spring Breaks

Buckle up, Folks: Spring is on the Horizon!

This means different things to different people, but to the eternally optimistic studio here at Glorious, it means warmer temperatures – perfect for a little spring break. We’ve scoured the internet to find the dreamiest luxury hotels in the UK that are perfect for recharging and re-energising!

1. Another Place, The Lake, Lake District
Stay at the ultra-luxurious Another Place, The Lake, which is a relaxed, contemporary and cosy hotel on the shores of Ullswater in the Lake District. Another Place, The Lake is designed for you to take it easy with your favourite people, exploring the wilderness, paddle boarding across the lake and letting go.

Whilst you’re there, how does swimming in the lake at night under a full moon with light-up tow floats and glow sticks sound?! Your cold water swim under the moonlight will be led Colin Hill, renowned open water swim guide and coach, English Channel solo swimmer, first UK Male Ice Mile swimmer (one mile in under 5 degrees with no wetsuit!). Sounds pretty dreamy!

2. Gleneagles Townhouse, Edinburgh
Looking for a city break? When you hear the word Gleneagles, I’m sure you think of the luxury Scottish golf hotel, and you wouldn’t be wrong, but the group has recently added Gleneagles Townhouse to their offering. Gleneagles Townhouse is the first venture beyond the Perthshire hills in its almost 100-year history.

The townhouse has 33 beautiful bedrooms, each uniquely designed to imbue a sense of understated luxury with a nod to the heritage of the building. Fancy unwinding in the spa? No problem, the hotel offers state-of-the-art wellness and fitness facilities, as well as a vibrant all-day restaurant and a rooftop terrace where guests will enjoy extraordinary views over Edinburgh. Bliss!

3. The Artist Residence, Brighton
If you could condense the spirit of Brighton into one building, The Artist Residence would be it. Creative, bohemian and downright eccentric, this Regency townhouse on Brighton seafront was reborn when they sent out an ad offering artists free board in return for their services. As a result, each room is a blend of original artist murals and eclectic style, some with eye-popping sea views over Brighton seafront and the iconic West Pier.

Downstairs, you’ll find a lively all-day neighbourhood hub, with light and airy spaces for a laid-back brunch, settling in with your laptop and a coffee, or enjoying cocktails with friends. Aside from Brighton having some of the best pubs and restaurants, why not try something new? Walk South Downs Way, roller skate along the promenade, or if you’re really daring, take a dip in the freezing Channel!

4. Felin Fach Griffin, Brecon
With a fire crackling in the grate, a heartfelt welcome and region-driven food, the Felin Fach Griffin is sheer bliss after a long day’s ramble in the Brecons. Designed with panache and lots of loving detail, this chilled-but-stylish country inn is a family and dog-friendly delight.

The hills spread out right in front of the inn, so it’s no problem if you return ruddy and muddy from a hike or a bike ride in the nearby Black Mountains, Llangorse Common, or perhaps higher still to the dramatic summit of 886m Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons. The dining pub with rooms is also near the book town of Hay-on-Wye and not far from the market towns of Abergavenny and Crickhowell, so there’s plenty to do and explore!

5. The Boathouse, Ormesby Broad, Norfolk
Set in 11 acres of beautiful parkland on the banks of the enchanting Ormesby Broad, The Boathouse is a spectacular place to stay with fine country dining, luxurious accommodation, as well as fully equipped luxury woodland lodges. Near the spectacular Norfolk Broads, Norfolk coastline and within easy access of the great city of Norwich and the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth, it’s the perfect place to relax and recharge after a day exploring the Broads National Park where you can enjoy boating, kayaking, paddle-boarding or simply spend your time taking in tranquility.
