Glorious Recommends: Podcasts

Whether you’re out on a run, commuting to work, on a long drive, or winding down at the end of the day with a glass of wine, there’s always time for a podcast!

By Glorious

Is it time to update your current playlist? If you don’t fancy endless scrolling for your next favourite podcast, look no further! Glorious has put together a list of some of our faves in no particular order, from thought provoking titles that expand your mind and change your thinking to laugh-out-loud topical chats, we’ve got you covered!

1. The Scummy Mummies

A comedy chat show for less-than-perfect parents. Hosted by comedians Ellie Gibson and Helen Thorn (tap here to read their Glorious story, Scummy Mummies: Unlikely Sporting Influencers) and featuring guest parenting experts, comedians and authors. The podcast covers the big issues affecting modern parents – from fish fingers to farting, to play-dates and pelvic floors. Expect frank and funny chat as well as wine, laughter and sophisticated boob jokes!

This is not a traditional career podcast. What does it mean to be a modern philosopher? How is Big Tech affecting us? Is ‘manifesting’ a load of BS? How do you combine activism with being the editor of a magazine? Award-winning author Emma Gannon has a gentle line of questioning that starts with work, and ends up wherever the conversations lead.

3. The Game Changers

In this award-winning podcast Sue Anstiss talks to trailblazers in women’s sport. These are the individuals who are knocking down barriers and challenging the status quo for women and girls everywhere. Along with openly sharing their historic careers, what drives them and how they’ve dealt with tough challenges, each episode explores key issues for equality in sport and beyond.

4. Conversations with Annalisa Barbieri

Have you ever wanted X-ray specs into human behaviour? Then this is the podcast for you. Listen to ‘brilliant, insightful and wise’ agony aunt and journalist Annalisa Barbieri, as she releases exclusive conversations between her and the trusted specialists she’s consulted over the years, who put a lifetime’s learning into each conversation. Every week you can learn more about yourself and the people around you.

5. Poog with Kate Berlant and Jacqueline Novak

Wellness is a trillion-dollar industry full of scams and snake oil salesmen, but comedians and best friends Kate Berlant and Jacqueline Novak just can’t get enough. Join them as they try products and practices, consult healers and experts, and ask the ultimate question: Is it truly wellness they’re after or just the thrill of the chase?

6. Seasoned Sessions

Seasoned Sessions is a weekly discussion where two of Seasoned’s producers – Hanifah and Ada – chat about the Black news and trending topics of the week. From music and entertainment to politics, Ada and Hanifah’s conversations delve into topics that are sometimes overlooked in media, and the Seasoned Sessions podcast will celebrate blackness in spaces where it’s often uncredited. Seasoned is a channel dedicated to creating and sharing content that resonates with the Black British experience.

7. Sports Wars

Sports rivalries can fuel fans and athletes to fight and argue for years. But what’s the real story behind these epic battles? From Wondery, the company behind “Business Wars”, “Gladiator” and “The Lead” comes SPORTS WARS, a new series that offers an immersive look at some of the greatest athletic rivalries of all time.

8. How To Fail With Elizabeth Day

How To Fail With Elizabeth Day is a podcast that celebrates the things that haven’t gone right. Every week, a new interviewee explores what their failures taught them about how to succeed better. We particularly enjoyed the latest episode with cooking ledgend Delia Smith! Even though the series has just ended, there’s hundreds of brilliant and inspiring interviews available.

9. The Women’s Running Podcast

Every fortnight, Ester Newman has a chat and a cuppa with an incredible woman from the world of running. From superstar pro runners to everyday plodders, each of them has made a big difference to running – and to women.

10. The Daily

If you only listen to one news podcast, this one’s a good bet. This is what the news should sound like. The biggest stories of our time, told by the best journalists in the world. Hosted by Michael Barbaro. Twenty minutes a day, five days a week, ready by 6 a.m.

All of these podcasts are available via Apple Podcasts / wherever you get your podcasts! Happy listening!
