Tom Miles spent many of his early lockdown runs pondering how he could work his upper body without access to the gym and without a set of weights at home. At some point during a video call with his father, renowned product designer Alexander Miles, a lightbulb moment occurred between father and son. “What if we attach a set of resistance bands to a belt in such a way that they provide upper body resistance while you run?” From this conversation, EXBELT was born! Designed and manufactured in the UK from high-grade materials, the EXBELT is revolutionising resistance band training. It is the first belt of its kind to enable the user to utilise resistance bands on the move and allows you to add resistance to any movement. Plus each EX-BELT comes with a free set of red (light resistance) EX-BANDS!
Friend of Glorious, the fabulous Jools Walker, rediscovered cycling after a decade-long absence from the saddle. When she started blogging about her cycle adventures under the alias Lady Velo, a whole world opened up to her. But it’s hard to find space in an industry not traditionally open to women – especially women of colour. Through many of life’s punctures, one constant remained: Jools’ love of cycling. This funny, moving and motivational book tells the story of how Jools overcome these challenges, stepped outside her comfort zone and learned to cycle her own path. Along the way she shares a wealth of inspirational stories and tips from other female trailblazers, and shows how cycling can and should be a space for everyone. A celebration of cycling, Back in the Frame is an absolute must read for any cycling fan! Read Jools’ Glorious story here

Far from being a scary instrument of torture, this Bed of Nails can have a rapid impact on those nagging aches and pains and help get a heavenly night’s sleep. The makers have cleverly combined Eastern wisdom with Scandinavian modernity to create a funky-looking acupressure mat that alleviates tension, stress and stubborn twinges – helping you to unwind, clear your mind and to feel more nimble. More than 8,800 non-toxic plastic spikes are arranged on the mat and work in a similar way to acupuncture needles, helping release endorphins (the body’s own ‘happiness’ drug) and oyxtocin, to help you stay calm and relaxed! This is the perfect gift to get over Christmas stress!
This long-term project by South African photographer Alice Mann, chronicles the extraordinary discipline and beguiling aesthetics of South Africa’s drum majorettes – synchronised teams of pom-pom wielding performers. This beautiful book depicts the aspirational subculture surrounding all-female teams affectionately known as ‘Drummies.’ For those involved, being a ‘drummie’ is a privilege- an achievement, indicative of success, hard work and commitment on and off the field. Participants often gain a sense of belonging and self-worth in communities where opportunities for young women can be severely limited. This is a coffee table book you will actually want to read! Tap to read when Glorious met Alice and learnt more about Drummies here.
We will be dropping special Glorious stories on the next two Fridays (24th and 31st) so keep an eye out. But in the meantime, team Glorious would like to wish you very happy holidays and a FABULOUS New Year, and thank you for your continued support.
